Steve’s FFXIV Mastery Guide Review

Steve’s FFXIV Mastery Guide (not to be confused with the awesome Chrono’s FFXIV Mastery Guide) has just been released. Apparently the more guides people publish the worse they get, so read on to see what I found out in Steve’s Mastery Guide.

Basically, there’s not a whole lot to review at this point. I gave pretty bad reviews to some other guides before but since they were published so early (some even in beta) the lack of content was more or less understandable. Later on they got updated and I changed my reviews, however with Steve’s guide I’m not sure I’ll bother. Since the game is out for awhile now he should at least write something before trying to sell it!

Despite what the website claims, Steve’s FFXIV Mastery Guide doesn’t contain and secrets, tips, tactics or strategies. Hell, it doesn’t even have a leveling guide — it’s not yet released. The ONLY thing that exists at this time is a gil guide, which is just rehashed and rewritten basic info you can find in other guides. Simply put, not worth it.

I’m assuming Steve will eventually update the guide and add a leveling part as well, but until then this is my worst spent $47 so far. It will probably be full of typos anyway, just like his gil guide and website. Here’s a free tip for you readers: if you need a quick $47 just write a FFXIV guide; yes, evidently anyone can do it. Unfortunately, you probably won’t sell more than one copy, because beating the quality of Chrono guide is not easy. Killerguide is still my absolute recommendation, and very much worth it.
